Description:
Through research, multi-media, music, food, and conversation we will examine how our perceptions of age, race, class, gender, religion, nation of origin, ability, sexual and gender identity can color our interactions with youth, staff, parents and how we implement Youth Development in our programs.
Participants will:
·Come to understand Cultural Competency as a 21st Century Skill
·Gain awareness of how our historic, societal, and personal biases affect our work and community
· Will leave with new tools, awareness, and understanding to help bridge the spaces between groups and individuals who may think themselves too dissimilar to work to together
·Create action steps for building greater diversity and awareness into their programs and their lives
